Ankur Tiwari, MD

Board-certified cardiac electrophysiologist Ankur Tiwari specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders. He evaluates and treats atrial fibrillation, bradycardia, tachycardia and other complex arrhythmias. Dr. Tiwari performs advanced electrophysiology procedures including atrial fibrillation ablation, ventricular ablation for tachycardia, intracardiac echocardiography and implantation of traditional pacemakers, leadless pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation. He also performs left atrial appendage closure, including the Watchman™ device, to help reduce stroke risk in select patients with atrial fibrillation. Dr. Tiwari emphasizes patient education and shared decision-making to help patients understand their treatment options. He earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, completed his residency at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and completed fellowship training at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
